Voices Within DVD and Workshops for Schools

To promote the positive contribution that young people can make through the performing arts, we have produced a DVD for secondary schools to help tackle bullying, Voices Within. It is part of our campaign with our Dream Foundation.

In collaboration with Trestle Arts, Living the Dream Media filmed an extended youth-led project about bullying. Over two days, the young performers explored their feelings about bullying, their identity, fears, pressures and stereotypes and produced an acting piece, wearing Trestle Masks, in which they scripted, directed and performed to a soundtrack of their own voices.

 The 25 minute DVD they created includes some of the workshop process as well as extracts from interviews with the participants, many of whom have been bullied themselves.  They are open and honest about their experiences as well as sending out a strong message to both the victims of bullying and the bullies themselves.

The Voices Within DVD is accompanied by a learning resources CD for teachers containing ideas, inspiration, activities and acting exercises to explore the issues of bullying that your students face. 

We believe it will be an inspiring and powerful teaching aid for schools, particularly as it is produced exclusively by young people.
