Living the Dream Performing Arts Company
Run by young people ... for young people
The Living the Dream Performing Arts Company is one of the few performing arts companies in the UK run by teenagers for teenagers.
As a result of being offered a place at the National Youth Theatre, at the age of 16, Zoe Jackson decided that a way for her to subsidise her course fees would be to create her own performing arts company and produce shows in order to provide a spotlight for young people to showcase their talent, not just on stage, but behind the scenes as well. Living the Dream is set to showcase the UK's most promising and exciting talent.
The overall ethos of Living the Dream is to grow in talent, confidence and self esteem, meet new people, discover new talents, work as a team, and learn about how a show is produced and most of all to have fun! We believe that what we are doing in Living the Dream is providing a positive role model for young people which challenges the media’s often stereotypical image of teenagers.
Since 2006, we have put on four successful showcases and as we proudly enter our fourth year, the number of cast and production members has been rapidly increasing just by word of mouth. We have been fortunate over the past two years to be awarded a grant from Hertfordshire County Council's Big Spend Fund to support our shows. The funding has enabled us to create bigger and better shows each year and for the first time, this summer, to put on workshops with guest artists from companies such as: ‘Lion King the Musical’ and ‘Zoo Nation Hip Hop Group’.
As the company has grown, the team have a wider vision for its future, as a viable, unique, vibrant organisation providing exciting opportunities for teenagers interested in the performing arts throughout the UK.
